One of the most recognizable pieces of Japanese furniture, the Kaidan-dansu (step-chest) was often designed in several modular pieces to hide upstairs floors from tax collectors.  This one is in three pieces.  Drawers made with decorative dovetails.  It could be created in a variety of woods and finishes:  curly maple, rosewood, and dark walnut.  Additional photos show different finishes available.   5 x 1.5 x 5"
